Chair Professor at Shenzhen University and Director of the Nanophotonics Research Center, Prof. Yuan previously held academic positions at the University of Cambridge’s Cavendish Laboratory, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), and Nankai University. A Member of the European Academy of Sciences (MAE), National Distinguished Professor, and member of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, he is also an elected Fellow of the Chinese Optical Society (FCOS), Optica (Optica Fellow), SPIE (SPIE Fellow), and the Institute of Physics UK (FInstP), cementing his stature as a globally renowned authority in nanophotonics and light field engineering. Prof. Yuan’s research focuses on light field manipulation, surface wave sensing and optoacoustic pathological diagnostics, and mode-division multiplexing mechanisms for optical interconnects. Since founding Shenzhen University’s Nanophotonics Research Center in 2013, he has spearheaded cutting-edge studies in these fields, achieving international recognition. His prolific academic contributions include over 600 SCI-indexed papers in leading journals such as Science, Nature Photonics, Nature Physics, Nature Communications, Science Advances, Physical Review Letters, and PNAS. As Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious international journal Advanced Photonics, Prof. Yuan plays a pivotal role in shaping photonics research worldwide. His work bridges theoretical innovation and practical applications, driving advancements in optical sensing, biomedical diagnostics, and next-generation communication technologies, while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across academia and industry.
