Jilin University
Professor Qi-Dai Chen is a Tang Aoqing Distinguished Professor at Jilin University. His research focuses on integrated optoelectronics, laser processing, micro-nano optics, ultrafast optics, and atomic/near-atomic scale manufacturing. He has pioneered transformative advancements in ultrafast laser micro/nano fabrication, particularly through the discovery of the optical far-field-induced near-field breakdown (FIB) effect, which enables free three-dimensional optical near-field manipulation at sub-10 nm resolution. This breakthrough, recognized with the 2023 National Natural Science Award, has revolutionized optical near-field theory and applications, addressing critical challenges in photonic chip manufacturing and enabling innovations such as ultra-invisible cutting, 3D optical chips, and femtosecond-laser blackbody technology.
